Poster for MCC Visiting Lecture Series
Mood Board for MCC Visiting Lecture Series
I chose Martin Woodtli for my guest speaker because of his retro designs and vibrant colors. Before I designed the poster, I designed the takeaway first. I thought origami would be fun so I found some neat origami fortune cookies. I liked that idea, but wanted to take it a step further. I asked myself what would be a good way for people to carry these with them into the speaking event without smashing them, or interrupting the guest speaker with the crumpling sound of paper. Then I decided Chinese takeout boxes would be a cost effective and also fitting with the fortune cookies.
After deciding on my takeaway. I would want to use the color scheme of the takeout box to be cohesive with my poster design. I used the box design to work with my poster color scheme and then incorporated Martin Woodtli's designs into the fortune cookies.
I wanted something meaningful for the person attending this event, so inside of the fortunes I wanted something they could use down the road for tips or even a nice keepsake. So I looked up some helpful design tips that could maybe be used for motivation or inspiration.
